Set up the keyboard.

  1. Install and open TypeAide. Choose your AI source in the app and follow its readiness guidance.
  2. Add the keyboard in iOS Settings. Go to General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard, then select TypeAide. An older version may still use the TransAide name.
  3. Review Full Access. Follow the app’s permission guidance for the AI actions you want to use. Network-based AI needs a connection; the extension also uses shared app configuration.
  4. Try the practice field. Open the keyboard once so the app can check its status. In a supported text field, hold the globe key and select TypeAide.
  5. Review before inserting. Choose an action, inspect the result, and insert it only when you are happy with it. You remain responsible for sending the message.

A writing panel alongside your everyday keyboard.

Keep the keyboard you prefer for normal typing. Switch to TypeAide when you want help with a draft or reply, then return to your usual keyboard. The extension works with the text the host app makes available; it cannot read an entire conversation or send messages on your behalf.

Know the limits before you need them.

Some fields use Apple’s keyboard

Secure fields and apps that restrict third-party keyboards may not show TypeAide. Work in the TypeAide app and copy the reviewed result when appropriate.

AI readiness matters

If actions are unavailable, check Full Access, your selected AI source, the network connection, and any Cloud sign-in status shown in the app.

Offline keyboard AI is experimental

Where offered, keyboard-local processing uses a dedicated model and has tighter memory limits than the main app. Follow the in-app compatibility check; use the app or an online source if your device cannot run it.

Why did my whole message not appear?

Text access depends on the host app, field, and selection. Check the input preview before generating. If the expected text is missing, copy the part you want to process and use the app or the keyboard’s available paste workflow.

Why can’t I see TypeAide in the keyboard list?

Open the installed app once, then check iOS keyboard settings again. Confirm that you installed the iPhone/iPad app, not the separate Mac app. If the name is still TransAide, that is the previous branding.
